I was born at a very young age.
The youngest of five children, I drove my family crazy with endless questions, observations and rantings.
Many a day, I would hear “STOP TALKING ALREADY!”
My reply was always an innocent, “but my mouth has so much to say!”
Since then I hope I have learned to filter the conversation. As well as listen more, think beyond and speak less. However, on occasion, the soapbox comes out and I must admit…
I have so-much-to-say.
I was born on a Hutterite Colony (Reality TV version) in Central Canada in the late ’60s. My parents left when I was five months old. They abandoned communal living for a higher calling, The Worldwide Church of God (more cynical version). With five kids in tow and whatever belongings they could carry, we departed. Needless to say, things were a little financially tight growing up. The amazing part is I didn’t realize it. I didn’t see or understand the social-economic lines that divided people. I still don’t see the lines.
My parents did a great job of providing healthy food. I didn’t know sugar existed until I was 6 years old (thanks to a first-grade teacher who brought cupcakes to school). I’m a firm believer in living a healthy lifestyle despite my addiction to wine.
My parents also did a noble job raising my brothers and I in a religion that was God’s only true church. Imagine how special I felt. I still feel special but am no longer a part of organized religion. I embrace and love all of my Christian, Agnostic, Atheist, Muslim, Hindu, etc. family and friends. Again, I don’t see the lines.
I am divorced twice. I have been judged and embraced through this ordeal and consequently learned A LOT about human nature.
I’m a true believer that everyone has a story.
Our responsibility is to listen… not judge.
My pride and joy are my three young-adult children.
They are the air that I breathe and I love them tremendously.
My dog is the most loving creature I know.
I am incredibly fortunate to have an interesting and amazing extended family.
My friends are true gems, I’d be afloat without them.
I am a true Northern gal at heart, but transplanted to Iowa, which is now home.
I have a plethora of hobbies, opinions, recipes, rants and raves that I would like to share with you.
Let’s get the conversation started!
